What Is It?
Talc PP Filler is polypropylene compounded with talc mineral filler, which raises stiffness and heat deflection temperature over unfilled PP while keeping a good surface finish — a different performance target from calcium-filled PP, which is optimized primarily for cost reduction and high-speed processability in tape and fabric applications.
How It's Manufactured
Talc is dispersed into PP resin on Nexxa's twin-screw compounding lines, using the same in-house process control the business applies across its filler range, at a talc loading set to the target grade's stiffness and heat-resistance specification.
Manufacturing Process for This Application
Automotive trim (bumpers, dashboards) and appliance housings are injection moulded from talc-filled PP pellets. Talc's platelet structure resists deformation better than unfilled PP under load, which is what gives the moulded part its added rigidity — the moulding process itself is standard injection moulding, but the part can typically run at the higher heat deflection temperature talc filling provides without warping.
Why Polymer Choice Matters Here
Automotive trim and appliance housings both need to hold their moulded shape under sustained mechanical load or mild heat exposure — a dashboard panel that sags under its own weight over time, or an appliance housing that deforms near a heat-generating component, fails the part's basic job regardless of cost savings elsewhere in the formulation. Talc filling addresses that directly by raising stiffness and heat deflection temperature over unfilled PP, at a lower reinforcement cost than glass fiber where the application does not need glass-level mechanical performance.
Why This Compound Is Suited
Nexxa Compounds is a leading manufacturer of talc-filled PP for automotive trim, appliance housings, and food-grade container applications in India — the grade explicitly targets dimensional rigidity and mild heat resistance, making it the filler choice when a part needs stiffness rather than the aggressive cost-per-kilogram reduction calcium-filled PP is built for.
Nexxa Compounds is a leading manufacturer of PP Filler compounds for automotive trim & appliance housings applications in India, supplying some of the largest manufacturers across India and internationally.
